Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli set the tempo on the ultimate day of the opening check in Bahrain, with Lewis Hamilton struggling an early finish to working.
The seven-time world champion stopped on circuit with simply 10 minutes remaining on the clock, inflicting a purple flag – the session did resume.
Antonelli’s 1m 33.669 was unable to be touched, having taken over from George Russell for Friday afternoon.
It was a Mercedes one-two on the timesheets as Russell was second quickest, with Hamilton, Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen finishing the highest 5.
