Cristiano Ronaldo made his Saudi Pro League debut for Al Nasser at the King Saud University Stadium on Sunday, as his side beat Al-Fawaz 1-0 on Sunday. This comes after Ronaldo played for a joint XI of Al Nasr and Al Hilal in an exhibition match against Lionel Messi’s PSG.
Sunday’s victory helped Al Nasr climb to the top of the table with 33 points from 14 matches, ahead of Al Hilal (32 points from 15 matches). Talisca was the only goalscorer in the match, when he headed in the winner in the 31st minute after Abdul Majid Al Sulaihim’s cross was too high for Ronaldo. But the former Manchester United star didn’t seem to miss out on scoring as he ran off to celebrate with the midfielder and the rest of his team-mates.
After the match, Ronaldo had a special message for his teammates and fans. Taking to Twitter, he posted pictures of the match with the caption, “First game, first win – great guys thanks to all the fans for the incredible support.”
Reacting to Ronaldo’s message, one fan wrote, “37 and still on top.”
“At thirty-seven, like he’s in his twenties, here you really know he’s legendary”, another fan added.
“Al-Nasr Club has a nickname (Fars Najd), which means brave man, and Cristiano, after joining Al-Nasr, has become one of the brave men we bet on for more success,” a And the fan added.
Ronaldo recently joined Al Nasr for a sensational 2-1/2-year deal, worth more than €200 million. He saw his Manchester United spell end after a controversial interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan, where he criticized the club’s hierarchy and head coach Erik ten Hague.
