A Delhi Courtroom on Monday granted interim bail to Sharjeel Imam in relation to the 2020 North-East Delhi riots bigger conspiracy case.
Extra Periods Decide Sameer Bajpai of Karkardooma Courts granted interim bail to Imam to attend his brother’s marriage ceremony.
Imam has been granted interim bail for 10 days, from March 20 to March 30.
The accused, who had been scholar activists within the forefront of organising anti-Citizenship Modification Act protests in 2019-2020, are dealing with expenses beneath the Illegal Actions Prevention Act and the Indian Penal Code for allegedly formulating the “bigger conspiracy” behind the communal riots which came about within the nationwide capital within the final week of February 2020.
The accused within the case are Tahir Hussain, Umar Khalid, Khalid Saifi, Isharat Jahan, Meeran Haider, Gulfisha Fatima, Shifa-Ur-Rehman, Asif Iqbal Tanha(granted bail in 2021), Shadab Ahmed, Tasleem Ahmed, Saleem Malik, Mohd. Saleem Khan, Athar Khan, Safoora Zargar(granted bail on humanitarian grounds as she was pregnant when arrested), Sharjeel Imam, Faizan Khan, Devangana Kalita (granted bail) and Natasha Narwal(granted bail).
