Radical Islamic groups in Bangladesh have threatened minority Hindus not to openly celebrate Durga Puja in the country and oppose national holidays during the festival. They also asked the Hindus not to protest against them.
Minority Hindus claim that the Bangladeshi government has not taken any action against radical groups threatening not to celebrate the festival. The community has faced increased attacks since the fall of the previous government led by Sheikh Hasina.
