Jammu 09 April 2026: J&Okay Anti Corrupting Bureau obtained a written grievance to the impact that Panchayat Secretary (VLW) of Block Devsar Kulgam particularly Shiekh Zada Irfan S/O Shiekh AB Rashid R/O Muniwara District Anantnag is demanding a bribe of ₹10,000 from the complainant for clearing of Payments on account of labour prices of MGNREGA works carried out by him, which was negotiated and eventually settled at ₹5000.
The complainant selected to not pay bribe and as a substitute approached P/S Anti Corruption Bureau for taking authorized motion in opposition to the mentioned Panchayat Secretary (VLW) as envisaged underneath regulation.
On receipt of the grievance, a discreet verification was performed which confirmed the demand by the mentioned Govt. worker and accordingly Case FIR No. 04/2026 u/s 7 of P/C Act 1988 learn with modification Act-2018 was registered in PS ACB Anantnag and investigation was taken up. In the course of the course of investigation a lure staff was constituted.
The staff laid a profitable lure and caught the mentioned Govt. worker pink handed whereas demanding and accepting bribe.
He was arrested on spot and bribe quantity was additionally recovered from his possession in presence of impartial witnesses related to the lure staff.
Subsequently, search of residential home of the accused Govt. worker was carried out in presence of Government Justice of the Peace and impartial witnesses.
