At a time when Kamala Harris was live in his campaign on Friday, President Joe Biden made a surprise appearance at a White House briefing – for the first time. MAGA supporters questioned whether there was no communication between the president and vice president and whether Biden wanted to steal the show from Kamala Harris. Biden spoke briefly about barred dockworkers; strike, positive job numbers, etc. He was then asked about Kamala Harris’s role in the numerous crises at home and abroad.
“Well, she is, I’m in constant contact with her. She knows we are all singing from the same song. We, she helped pass all the laws that are being implemented,” Biden said.
“Now she was a major player in everything we did, including passing legislation we were told we would never pass. And so she was, and her staff is connected to mine in terms of all the things that we do,” Biden said.
Conservatives said it was actually a big boost for the Trump campaign. CNN pundit Scott Jennings wrote, “He’s literally trying to destroy her campaign and it’s just unbelievable.”
The TV networks were focused on Kamala, but had to shift their focus when Biden suddenly appeared. “We were actually going to talk live with Vice President Kamala Harris, who’s speaking right now in Detroit, Michigan and apparently talking about ending the port strike,” CNN anchor Boris Sanchez said Friday. “She’s trying to appeal to union workers, and yet the president of the United States comes out, clearly overshadowing her, answering important questions.”
A few days ago, it was reported that Biden was grumbling behind closed doors that Kamala wasn’t mentioning him or Bidenomics enough in her recent campaign speeches. Biden has complained privately to allies that Harris and the Democratic Party appear to have “given up on him” after he withdrew from the July 2024 race.
