Sufficient evidence to prosecute accused in Coaching Center death: CBI to court

The CBI has filed charges against Rau’s IAS Study Circle CEO Abhishek Gupta and its coordinator

New Delhi:

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday informed a Delhi court that it has enough evidence to prosecute the accused in the Old Rajinder Nagar flood-related death case.

Civil service aspirants had lost their lives after heavy rain in the national capital led to the flooding of the training institute.

Chief District and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna heard the CBI’s submissions, which urged the court to take cognizance of the charge sheet filed in the case.

Among others, the CBI filed charges against Rau’s IAS Study Circle CEO Abhishek Gupta and its coordinator Deshpal Singh.

However, the defense counsel countered the CBI’s submissions, claiming that the charge sheet was incomplete.

After the submissions, the court fixed the hearing on October 29 to decide on the confession.

Shreya Yadav (25) from Uttar Pradesh, Tanya Soni (25) from Telangana and Nevin Delvin (24) from Kerala had drowned in the flooded basement of the building on July 27.
