South Lebanon rolling out a smokescreen? Israel ‘fortifies’ area near Golan ‘to strike Hezbollah from east’ – News18

Israeli troops have stepped up operations in the Golan Heights, removing anti-personnel mines and building new barriers near a demilitarized zone bordering Syria, according to a Reuters report. The IDF is reportedly moving the DMZ fence further into Syrian territory while building additional fortifications. Analysts believe the moves could signal an escalation against Hezbollah, with Israel seeking to secure a strategic area from which to monitor the group and prevent infiltration. Security sources suggested the move could be part of a wider Israeli strategy to strike Hezbollah’s supply routes, many of which pass through Syria. Meanwhile, Russia withdrew troops from an outpost in southern Syria following an agreement with Israel.
