Diwali falls on Amavasya (moonless night) and illumination jazz dispels the darkness, filling the space with light, adding meaning to the festival which
means the triumph of good over evil.
A lit diya not only illuminates the area but also affects the atmosphere as the temperature rises as the diya is lit and the pre-winter, dense air is cleared. First, light a diya in your room with pooja followed by lighting a diya near the Tulsi if you have one at home. Otherwise, light a diya in your kitchen.
To sound prosperity and wealth, place the diyas facing north or northeast.
For better health, the diyas should face east to ward off negativity, ward off disease and increase wealth, light the diyas near water vessels.

Ÿ Bamboo diyas: In the eastern states of India (Bengal and Odisha), diyas are often made of bamboo and lit with oil, associated with the goddess Kali, who protects and bestows prosperity.
