Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said on Friday (27 September) he would work with both Ukraine and Russia to end their war as he stood next to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky ahead of their meeting in New York. Speaking to reporters at Trump Tower, Zelensky said he wanted to discuss his “win plan” for Ukraine with Trump during their first meeting of 2019. He said he would meet with both Trump and his rival from the Democratic Party in the Nov. 5 election, Vice President Kamala Harris, because Ukraine needed strong U.S. support in its ongoing war with Russia. Trump praised Zelensky but said he also has a solid relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
