They shared the original image of McDonald’s staff, which they claimed had been manipulated to include Kamala Harris’ face.
The McDonald’s job has emerged as a key flashpoint between the Republican Party and Democrats since Donald Trump said Kamala Harris lied about working at McDonald’s 41 years ago. To emulate her “false claim”, last Sunday Donald Trump worked a shift at a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania and said he worked 15 minutes longer than Kamala Harris because Kamala Harris has never worked at a McDonald’s – so as there is no data on this.
“We checked with McDonald’s and they categorically say there is no record that Leanne Kamala Harris ever worked there,” Trump wrote after his shift at McDonald’s. “In other words, she never worked there and has been lying about this ‘job’ for years.”
The truth about Kamala Harris’ stay at McDonald’s
Kamala Harris said she worked at a McDonald’s in the Bay Area 41 years ago when she was in college in the summer of 1983. But the Trump campaign claims there is no record of Kamala Harris working at a McDonald’s, as she claims, and therefore she lied. But reports say this is the pre-digital era and no record found may suggest it “never worked”.
What McDonald’s said
McDonald’s said it is true that there is no employment record for Harris, but that is not an aberration and no reason to think she did not work at McDonald’s. “Although we are not a political brand, we were proud to hear about former President Trump’s love of McDonald’s and Vice President Harris’ fond memories of working under the Arches. While we and our franchisees do not have records for all positions dating back to the early 1980s, what makes 1 of 8 so strong is the shared experience that so many Americans have had.”
