Actor Abhay Deol Talked about how he hated fame growing up when asked about his family members. In a new interview, Abhay also said that when he moved to New York, he was still not out of that headspace of his dev-de-role. Abhay reveals that he drinks every day. Dev D is a 2009 romantic black comedy film released in February 2009. Written and directed by him Anurag Kashyap. The film stars Abhay Deol, Mahi Gul and Kalki Koechlin.

In an interview with Mashable India, Abhay said, “Because I grew up in a filmy family. I saw fame up close as a kid. I didn’t like it because your privacy goes away. So much about you. Something is written. Literally hating the fame and the media. Because growing up I saw so much written about the family, the question as a child was, ‘Is it true, is it true?’ It used to make me angry, ‘Your father works in films, your uncle is a big star’. Obviously, whatever was written about him, asked at school, I didn’t like it. , I saw a lot of people. Around the family that I knew were there to get benefits, they weren’t friends.”

Talking about the time when he was in New York, Abhay also said, “The role that Dev D did, I was not out of that headspace. So for a year I did what Dev D did. What was in the movie. I had a lot better than Dev. I wasn’t in tattered clothes on the streets. I drank like a fool every day. I made some really good friends, so I remember a few things. My All life is a cycle.

Abhay was last seen in the limited series Trial by Fire in 1997 based on the fire at Aphar cinema. The series depicts the intense legal battle and incredibly trying journey that leads two parents to lose their children. It is based on the best-selling book, Trial by Fire: The Tragic Tale of the Aphar Fire Tragedy, written by Neelam and Shikhar Krishnamurthy.

Directed by Prashant Nair and produced by Endemol Shine India and House of Talkies, the drama also stars Rajshri Deshpande, Rajesh Telang, Ashish Vidyarthi, Anupam Kher, Ratna Pathak, Shilpa Shukla, and Shardul Bhardwaj. Trial by Fire premiered exclusively on Netflix on January 13.
