Can an all-out war be avoided in the Middle East? What Biden Said – Times of India

NEW DELHI: US President Joe Biden was asked by reporters on Sunday if he believed that an all-out war in Middle East should be avoided. Tensions are escalating in the Middle East as Israelconflict with Hamas now moved to Lebanon Hezbollah.
On Sunday, Biden told reporters that the possibility of all-out war “must” be avoided. As he boarded Air Force One, Biden said, “That’s the way it should be. We really have to avoid it.”
This statement followed Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon that resulted in numerous casualties as well as the assassination of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, potentially bringing Iran and the US directly into the conflict.
The White House sees Nasrallah’s death as a significant setback for Hezbollah. At the same time, the administration has tried to tread carefully as it tries to contain Israel’s war with Hamas, which, like Hezbollah, is backed by Iran, from erupting into an all-out regional conflict.
Biden has indicated that he plans to speak with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but did not specify when.
