Earlier this year, the Delhi High Court issued a contempt notice to Wikipedia, strongly objecting to the non-disclosure of information about edits made to the home page of news agency Asian News International.

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk.

SpaceX founder Elon Musk has urged people to stop donating to the internet encyclopedia Wikipedia, claiming it is controlled by “far-left activists”.

In one of his recent posts on X, the owner of the microblogging platform cited a report published by Pirate Wires, a US-based news company, about how pro-Hamas Wikipedia editors hijacked the Israeli-Palestinian narrative.

The billionaire businessman-investor wrote: “Wikipedia is controlled by far-left activists. People should stop donating to them.”

The report, shared by a staunch supporter of Republican presidential candidate and former US president Donald Trump, said: “An apparently coordinated campaign led by about 40 Wikipedia editors is working to delegitimize Israel, portray radical Islamist groups in a favorable light and position of fringe academic views on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as mainstream in recent years, intensifying since the October 7 attack.”

Earlier this year, the Delhi High Court (September 5) issued a contempt notice to Wikipedia – the widely used free online encyclopedia – challenging its failure to disclose information about edits made to the home page of news agency Asian News International (ANI). .

Annoyed by the failure to comply with its order in a defamation case filed by the news agency, the court told Wikipedia not to operate in India if it did not like it and that it would ask the central government to block the platform in the country.

ANI claims that Wikipedia has failed to enforce orders to disclose information about subscribers who have made defamatory edits to the platform’s login page.

Last year, media reports mentioned that Wikipedia, co-founded by Jimmy Wales, recently mocked Musk and his social media platform X, saying that X was not a reliable source for accurate information. He added that he’s glad that the big language models (LLMs) powering chatbots like ChatGPT, Bing and Bard are reading his website instead of Twitter (now called X).

A Fortune report states that Wells was speaking at the Web Summit in Lisbon and was asked about his views on LLMs being trained on Wikipedia data. In response to the question, Wells said he was glad LLMs were reading Wikipedia and not Twitter, as it (Twitter) was not a “great source of truth”.
