Controversial poo statue near US Capitol sparks debate over January 6 riots

Over the past 10 years, powerful symbols have often been used around the world to express public outrage and protest. One of the most unusual monuments, however, has just appeared in front of the US Capitol, which houses the US Congress and is the center of the federal government.

This unusual sculpture, a massive “poop statue” that depicts the events of the attack on the Capitol on January 6, attracted a lot of attention and served as a controversial and lasting reminder of the event’s importance in American history.

According to new york post, it depicts a large, soft-serve cocoa sitting on former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s desk in an apparent rip-off against former President Donald Trump and the rioters who stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

“This memorial honors the brave men and women who invaded the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021 to loot, urinate and defecate throughout these hallowed halls to overturn an election,” reads a plaque at the base of the statue.

According to Washington Post, the National Park Service granted Civic Crafted LLC’s permit request. Julia Jimenez-Pyzik, the person who requested the permit, did not respond to text or phone messages seeking comment. The installation will remain at the mall until Oct. 30, according to the permit.
