1. Fertile window: The fertile period is when ovulation occurs and an egg is released from the ovary. A normal menstrual cycle lasts about 21 to 35 days, and ovulation occurs 14 days before. For example, if a woman’s menstrual cycle is 28 days, then 14 days would be the most fertile period. So it is ideal for couples to have intercourse around the time of ovulation. Normally, when the egg is fertilized, it lives for 24 hours, and the sperms live for 36 to 72 hours. Therefore, timely intercourse during this period increases the chances of conception.

2. Menstruation: Women are well aware of this phase. Menstrual cramps can be bothersome for some women, while others get periods easily. One may also experience abnormal bleeding, period pain, nausea, vomiting, and stomach upset. To track your period, you need to keep a diary and write down your dates and symptoms. Your menstrual cycle record will be helpful in knowing about your reproductive health.

3. Follicular Phase: This happens when the egg matures in the ovary. It is part of the body’s process during reproductive age that matures the egg. At the same time, the lining of the endometrium will be ready for the upcoming embryo.

4. Ovaries: This is the specific period when the egg is released from the ovary. This is the most fertile period and ovulation occurs about 14 days before menstruation.

5. Luteal Phase: This is the stage after the egg has hatched. Here, the body prepares for the upcoming fetus. If the embryo does not form, the thickness of the developed endometrium is shed and the patient has her next period.
