DU Exam Papers Reach Centres Nearly Four Hours Late, Over 35 Subjects Affected

The affected examinations were originally set to begin at 9:30 am. However, at many colleges, students were made to wait until almost noon, while a few examinations were eventually called off altogether, raising concerns over serious logistical shortcomings in the universityโs examination process. Over 1.4 Lakh Students Appeared for Morning Session
According to official sources, around 800 papers were scheduled for the morning session, with nearly 1.4 lakh students appearing for exams across DUโs campuses. The delayed papers were primarily discipline-specific electives (DSEs), mostly for seventh-semester undergraduate students. Education
An official was quoted as saying that over 35 DSE papers could not be dispatched on time, disrupting examination schedules at multiple centres. Education
University Cites Logistical Issues
Following the incident, Delhi University issued an official notification stating that โdue to some logistical issues, a few papers could not be dispatched and the same could not be conducted at some examination centres.โ The university claimed the issue was later addressed and papers were dispatched. However, officials acknowledged that up to 10 examinations had to be cancelled, affecting more than 100 students, while several others were conducted later in the day under what they described as โconsiderable difficulty.โ Education
Science and Computer Science Courses Most Affected
The longest delays were reported in science and computer science courses. Two computer science papers โ Digital Image Processing and Compiler Design โ reportedly did not reach any college until 12:50 pm, well past the scheduled start time. Education
Students said the prolonged wait led to anxiety, confusion, and exhaustion. Education
Students Express Frustration
A seventh-semester science student from Miranda College said students were left without clear communication. Education
โWe were asked to sit and wait without any clarity on whether the exam would happen. Some students left assuming it was cancelled, while others stayed back till noon,โ the student said.
Another student appearing for a DSE at Lady Shri Ram College for Women said the delay impacted preparation for upcoming exams.
โBy the time the exam began, we were mentally drained. There was no official update for hours,โ she said.
Revised Exam Schedule Announced
Delhi University stated that honours students appearing for three core subjects would be allowed to use subsequent examination slots, while revised dates for affected programme courses would be announced separately. The rescheduled exams are expected to be conducted by the second week of January 2026. Education
