Elon Musk: Will Elon Musk run for president? What Tesla CEO Said | World News – Times of India

Billionaire CEO of Tesla and SpaceX Elon Musk clarified that despite his enormous influence and growing role in politics, Musk has made it clear that he has no desire to run for the highest office in the United States. Speaking at a recent event, Musk admitted that even though his grandfather was American, his birthplace disqualified him from running for president. More importantly, he reiterated his passion for technology and innovation over politics.
“My grandfather was American, but I was born in Africa, so I can’t be president,” Musk said. He added: “But I don’t really want to be president. I want to make rockets and cars. I believe we want to be a space civilization and that is where my focus will remain.”
Musk said his main goal is to advance technology, especially in space exploration and electric vehicles. “I love creating technology that people find useful,” Musk said, further distancing himself from any political ambitions.
Despite his lack of interest in running for office, Musk has increasingly joined political rallies expressing his support for the Republican nominee Donald Trump. Musk has committed to working on government efficiency if Trump is re-elected. Musk said, “I hope we elect President Trump and then I will work hard on the Department of Government Efficiency.” That role will include cutting what he sees as excessive federal spending.

“I will work hard on the government efficiency department. After that, I hope I won’t be able to be in politics. That will be my hope. I am doing this because I believe it is critical to the future of the country. And if America is going down, nothing else matters,” the Tesla CEO said.
Musk’s comments come amid Trump’s announcement that he would create a government efficiency commission, with Musk at the helm, if he wins the election. During a speech at the Economic Club of New York, Trump outlined his vision, promising to conduct a thorough audit of federal spending to eliminate “fraud and improper payments.” He said, “I will create a government efficiency commission charged with conducting a full financial and performance audit of the entire federal government.” In response, Musk expressed enthusiasm for the role at X, saying, “I look forward to serving America, if the opportunity arises. No need for pay, no title, no recognition.”
