Actor Imran Hashmi revealed that her Selfie co-star Akshay Kumar was the first person to call her when her son Ayan Hashmi was battling cancer a few years ago. Imran married Parveen Shahani in December 2006. In February 2010, they welcomed Ayan. Almost four years later on January 15, 2014, Ian was diagnosed with cancer. In January 2019, Ayan became cancer free.

As quoted by The Indian Express, Emraan said of Akshay, “I have followed him as a fan, I have liked him. I got to know him in the last few years. Honored. He was there for me when my son was having health problems. He was the first person to call me and stand by me, stand by our family’s family. I know him well then. I didn’t know. In your good times, many people surround you, but in bad times, the angels who come to you (the angels who come to you in your difficult times), are Akshay.”

Talking about the multi-starrers, Emraan also said, “For me only the content is important, it doesn’t matter if it is a solo hero, two hero or three hero film. I don’t know why more multi-starrs aren’t being made. They are being made but more films should be made because if you look at the last two years and the trend since the beginning of cinema, they have been successful.

Directed by Raj Mehta, Selfie will bring Akshay and Emraan together on screen for the first time. The film will also star Nusrat Bharucha and Diana Penty. The three-minute long trailer shows Emraan playing the role of an RTO officer, who wants to take a selfie with his favorite actor Vijay (played by Akshay).

Selfie is the official Hindi remake of the Malayalam film Driving License, starring Prithviraj and Suraj Venjaramudhu in the lead roles. It is produced by Dharma Productions and Akshay Cape of Good Films as well as Sukumaran’s Prithviraj Productions and Magic Frames. Selfie is slated to release in theaters on February 24.
