Former Odisha Chief Minister Giridhar Gemang resigned from the BJP on Wednesday, alleging that he faced “humiliation” in the party.
Sources said Chandrasekhar Rao of Gombang is likely to join the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). Gamang’s son Sashir also left the saffron party.
“I can tolerate insults, but not humiliation,” Gamang told reporters.
Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their support, the veteran tribal leader said he was “not given due importance even in the party and in corruption” from where he stood for nine terms in the Lok Sabha. Elected.
Gamming said he sent his. resignation Letter to BJP National President JP Nadda.
He left the Congress and joined the BJP in 2015.
In a letter to Nadda, Gamming said he had taken the decision because he had “failed to fulfill his political, social and moral duty to the people of Odisha” under the saffron brigade.
Gamming and his son also skipped the state BJP executive meeting held here on Sunday.
Sources said that Gaming and his son recently met Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and discussed various issues including joining the Bharat Rastra Samiti.
The father-son duo will soon hold a press conference to announce the date of joining the BRS, sources said, adding that Gamming may lead the party in the state in the 2024 elections as its Odisha president.
