IMPHAL: Four persons were injured in an explosive device blast in Manipur’s Akharul district on Wednesday evening.
The incident took place near Gandhi Chowk, also known as Community Circle in Akharol district, 80 km northeast of the state capital Imphal.
A woman was taken to the hospital with an injury to her arm, police said. The other three sustained minor injuries.
“We have registered a case and investigation is on,” said a police officer from the hill town.
A local resident said that the residents of Waveland neighborhood in the district headquarters heard the explosion around 5 pm.
Several rebel groups in Manipur have called for a complete shutdown on January 26 to boycott the Republic Day celebrations in the northeastern state.
