Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh launched Bharat Biotech’s nasal covid vaccine iNCOVACC on the occasion of Republic Day on Thursday.

The world’s first India-made intra-species vaccine was launched here at Mandaviya’s residence.

The nasal vaccine — BBV154 — received Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) approval in November for limited emergency use as a heterologous booster dose among adults.

According to a statement released earlier by Bharat Biotech, the price of ‘iNCOVACC’ is 800 for and on private markets 325 for supply to Government of India and State Governments

iNCOVACC is a recombinant replication-deficient adenovirus vectored vaccine with prefusion stabilized spike protein. The Hyderabad-based vaccine maker said the vaccine candidate had been evaluated in Phase I, II and III clinical trials with successful results.

Clinical trials were conducted to evaluate iNCOVACC as a primary dosing schedule and as a heterologous booster dose for subjects who had previously received two doses of Covishield or Covaxin.
