NEW DELHI: The mothers of the two accused in the murder of the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party Grandma Siddique on Sunday said they were unaware of their sons’ intentions and had minimal contact with them.
Singh’s mother, based in Haryana, said her 23-year-old had visited her home on Holi and the two had not been in contact since then.
“He went to Pune to work at scrap.I only knew this.. I didn’t know what he was doing in Mumbai. He had gone home to Holly and then he didn’t come. He didn’t even return my calls so I can’t say anything about the incident. He is about 18-19 years old. He had just sent me Rs 3,000 when my daughter was sick,” she told ANI.

Expressing disdain for her grandson, Singh’s grandmother said, “He was my grandson but now he is nothing to me. He has not been in touch for the last three to four days and is not in touch.”
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh-born Dharamraj Kashyap’s mother said her 19-year-old also works at a scrap yard in Pune. However, Kashyap contacted her mother only once.
“Two months ago, he had gone to work at a scrap yard in Pune. He has only contacted me once since he left. The police had come and informed me about him,” she said.
The Mumbai Police on Saturday arrested Gurmail Singh (23) and Dharamraj Kashyap (19) moments after Siddique was shot and died of multiple injuries. The pair appeared in court on Sunday, where the prosecutor revealed that more than 28 rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the pair.
