If your job is just a set of automated tasks that AI can perform, start looking for a new job: CEO of LinkedIn – News18

Ryan Roslansky, CEO of LinkedIn, spoke at the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) India Leadership Summit in New Delhi on Monday.

The most important skill that matters is learning how to learn and adaptability. When some new tools come out, like ChatGPT, just learn them and play with them, says LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky

In India, the skills needed to do the same job in 2015 have changed 40 percent to date and are expected to change 70 percent by 2030, with artificial intelligence (AI) changing jobs a lot, Ryan Roslansky, CEO of LinkedIn, said.

Roslansky was speaking at the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) Indian Leadership Summit in New Delhi on Monday. “In India, if you take the same exact role or the same job title that exists today and compare it to 2015, the skill required to do that job has changed 40 percent since 2015. We predict that changes up to 70 percent by 2030. Whether you change jobs or not, work is changing around you,” said the LinkedIn CEO.

Roslansky said AI has made upskilling very important. “Take your current job and don’t think of it as a job title, see it as a set of tasks that need to be completed. When you understand these tasks, you can understand AI’s ability to automate these tasks. If you find that your job is just a set of automated tasks, you need to start looking for a new job,” said Roslansky, who runs one of the largest recruitment platforms, a global hub for job seekers.

THREE TIPS

As advice to young people, Roslansky said three things matter. “The most important skill that matters is learning how to learn and adaptability. When new tools like ChatGPT come out, just learn and play with them. Number two, don’t forget the human component, empathy, compassion and ethical judgment. They are extremely important. AI won’t take over everything. So if you think you’re really strong in some of those people skills, you can have a real competitive advantage,” the LinkedIn executive said.

He said the youth should also try to apply the new technologies available to solve the problems of climate change, health and disease. “Now there are technologies that, for the first time in history, can solve these problems on a different level. Use them to create a better world as this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Dream bigger about what this technology can mean for you and the world,” Roslansky said.

The younger generation is entering a world that’s full of incredible technology and change, and it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, LinkedIn’s CEO said.

AI ALSO MEANS OPPORTUNITY

The CEO of LinkedIn said that AI will change a lot of how we work, but this change will also bring many opportunities. “Just as the Industrial Revolution brought about new roles that the 18th century farmer could never have imagined. So AI will create opportunities that those in this room cannot imagine today. AI can be used to increase productivity, it can be used to increase the workforce. But at certain times it’s scary,” Roslanky said.

He said LinkedIn has a digital map of 1.1 billion professionals, 65 million companies and 20 million jobs at any given time. “It’s a dynamic graph and gives us a real-time view of what’s happening in the global job market,” said LinkedIn’s CEO.
