Internship Scheme: Applications are invited from youth

On Saturday, the Center opened the doors to ambitious youngsters to sign up for its ambitious internship scheme to provide real-world workplace experience to unemployed youth, with nearly 200 leading companies offering almost 91,000 such opportunities as part of a pilot project.

Officially named The Premier’s Internship Scheme in Top Companies (scheme) [TPISTPS]the government launched a portal https://pminternship.mca.gov.in on October 3rd for companies to make internship offers on October 3rd.

On Saturday, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs said that candidates can register on the portal from 5 pm onwards for the internships, which are available in 24 sectors, using an Aadhaar-based system.

The portal, which also has tools to help candidates generate bio-data based on their basic data, currently has internship opportunities in 737 of India’s 800 districts, for those in the 21-24 age group. The window for young people to apply for internships under the pilot project will be open until October 25, and selected interns are likely to start their one-year internships with companies on December 2.

Along with their educational qualification, applicants will have to share their residential pin codes and their details will be matched with the requirements and locations of the companies to generate a shortlist of candidates. Officials say the effort will be to offer applicants a stay in their own or neighboring districts, and if that’s not feasible, in their own state.
