European, Arab and Muslim countries launch a new initiative for an independent Palestinian state
As Israel pounds Beirut with airstrikes, European, Arab and Islamic nations have launched an initiative to boost support for the Palestinian state and its institutions and prepare for the future after the war in Gaza and the escalating conflict in Lebanon, Norway’s foreign minister said on Friday (27 September 2024 d.).
Espen Bart Eide, Norway’s foreign minister, told The Associated Press, “there is a growing consensus in the international community from Western countries, from Arab countries, from the Global South, that we must create a Palestinian Authority, a Palestinian government, a Palestinian state – and the Palestinian state must be recognized.” – AP
