Israel’s ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, said Israel was open to a ceasefire but stressed that it required Hamas to disarm and release hostages. Azar noted that Israel aims to restore stability in the region and would support the withdrawal of Hamas from the Gaza Strip under such conditions.
Asked about the duration of Israel’s military operations, Azar said: “Israel is always ready for a ceasefire. We want Hamas to lay down its weapons and release the hostages. We are ready to accommodate their departure from Gaza. We seek to establish a mechanism in the North to implement Security Council resolutions. If we receive these assurances, there is no doubt that we can restore stability to the region.
