Pan Nalan tweeted, “Hey family of my last movie show, let’s be happy and move on. (Finally, we’re with Park Chan-wook and Inarito!) and as a team you’ve been absolutely amazing. You’ve stood by our story through the storms, with all your heart – and no hip. That you’ve moved souls all over the world so deeply. Because we all knew when we did the last show. This will neither be our last film nor our last show.
gujarati movie, Hello show It was India’s entry to the Oscars last year, beating SS Rajamouli’s RRR. The film is based on a young Gujarati boy and how he falls in love with cinema. Fascinated by Roshni, and her ability to tell stories, the boy wants to do nothing but watch movies all day, and this gets him into trouble with his father and even the local police. He is called a thief with a group of his friends but his love for movies surpasses anything.
Pan Nalan also congratulated the RRR team and others, who made it to the nominations and added, “Congratulations to the three Indian nominees All That Breathes, The Elephant Whisperers and Nato Nato song.”
RRR song Naatu Naatu made it to the Best Original Song category. Apart from this, All That Breathes and The Elephant Whisperers have also been shortlisted in the Best Documentary and Best Documentary Short categories respectively.
Not only The Last Film Show, but several films from India, which were eligible for Oscar nominations, did not make the cut. This was a list of 301 films from around the world, which were eligible for the Oscars. These included Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiwadi, Rishabh Shetty’s Kannada film Kanda and Pan Nalin’s Cheilo Show (The Last Film Show). Marathi films Mee Vasant Rao and Tujhe Saathi Keh Hello, R Madhavan’s Rockery: The Nambi Effect, Erwin Nizhal and Kannada film Vikrant Rona were also on the list. Documentaries like Shonk Sen’s All That Breathes and Karthike Gonsalves’ The Elephant Whisperers were also on the list.
Pan Nalan is best known for directing the critically acclaimed films Samsara, Valley of Flowers and Angry Indian Goddesses.
