OpenAI adds new AI layers that will help programmers with better support
ChatGPT canvas is basically the next generation tool from OpenAI for developers which helps them with improved support for their tasks.
OpenAI introduced a new workspace interface called Canvas in the ChatGPT app aimed at helping users write and code projects. This feature is currently available for ChatGPT Plus and Team users, with Enterprise and Edu users gaining access in the coming days.
“Canvas opens in a separate window, allowing you and ChatGPT to work together on a project. This early beta version introduces a new approach to working together – not just by communicating, but by generating and refining ideas side by side,” says OpenAI’s official blog. The company also plans to release Canvas to all ChatGPT Free users once it completes the beta stage.
How does Canvas work?
The recently launched Canvas feature is a virtual workspace within ChatGPT designed to facilitate consultation on specific project elements. It opens in a separate window from the main conversation, allowing developers to enter their text or code and mark sections for the model’s attention. According to the official blog, Canvas is automatically activated when ChatGPT identifies its potential utility. Users also have the option to enable Canvas for both new and existing projects.
Users control the project on Canvas and can directly edit, text or code. Additionally, there are several shortcuts to ask ChatGPT to correct typing length, debug code, and quickly perform other useful actions. These shortcuts include:
– Suggest edits: ChatGPT provides built-in recommendations and feedback.
– Change reading level: Users can adjust the reading level from kindergarten to high school.
– Add emoticons: Add appropriate emoticons for highlighting and color.
– Add final Polish: Double check for grammar, clarity and consistency.
– Length adjustment: Users can edit the document length to be shorter or longer.
Additionally, Canvas also includes several coding shortcuts such as:
Code Review: ChatGPT provides suggestions for improving the code. Add Comments: Add comments to the code, making it easier to understand. Debug: Finds and rewrites faulty code to resolve problems. Add Logs: Adds printable reports to help you debug and understand your code. Translating: Users can translate their code into JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, C++, or PHP.
