During their school days, Shahrukh and Palash actively participated in extracurricular activities such as theatre, singing, and sports. A few years ago, in a documentary called Shah Rukh Khan’s Inner World, the actor revisited his school, gave his fans a tour of the premises, and met some old acquaintances.

Speaking to Mashable India, Palush said, “The popular story is that Shah Rukh and I, we were actors in school, we were in the same class at the same time. Basically, Shah Rukh can’t sing. And I could sing. A musical where I did all the playback singing for Shah Rukh. I was singing for him before Sonu Nigam and all those people sang.”

When asked if Palash was in touch with Shahrukh later, the singer smiled and nodded. He also said that we were friends at school, we both took, he took the escalator and I took the stairs, so that’s how it was, 25 years of career in my whole life, I never asked. Work from anyone, never, my family and I believe in kam du to merit par karo (work based on merit).

In 2018, in an interview with Filmfare, Shah Rukh revealed his nickname at school. “Mel godda, because I used to run so fast like an express train. Also because my hair stood on end. I pissed off a lot of my teachers. I once convinced my chemistry teacher by saying That he would give me good marks. I was like his son,” he had said.

Palash founded the band Euphoria in Delhi in 1998. The group is known for hit tracks like Dhoom Pachak Dhoom, Meri, Ab Nah Jaa, Ana Meri Gali, Soon De Ma, Sonia, and Mahfooz. Palash made his Bollywood acting debut in 2001 with the film Film. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film also starred Tabu and Sushmita Sen.

Shah Rukh will next be seen in Siddharth Anand’s Pathan alongside Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana. It is slated to release on January 25 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. He also has Atlee’s Jaawan in the pipeline for a June 2 release. Fans will also see Shahrukh opposite Taapsee Pannu in Rajkumar Hirani’s next Dinky. It is slated to release on December 22.
