Shahrukh KhanKi Pathan has taken a stellar start at the domestic box office. Pathan’s first day figures are among the top openers of all time as collected by War (2019). ₹50 crore nett and 2022’s KGF 2 (Hindi) did business. ₹52 crore nett. According to early estimates, Pathan’s Hindi version has recorded a phenomenal record. ₹50-51 crore nett collection on the first day at the domestic box office. Pathan was released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages on Wednesday, a day before Republic Day 2023. Pathan is directed by Siddharth Anand, and is backed by Yash Raj Films.
According to a Box Office India report, “Pathan has recorded a phenomenal opening day at the box office as it ₹50-51 crore nett collection in its Hindi version as per initial estimates.” The report added that the action film, which also stars Deepika Padukone And John Abraham, leapfrogging as Baahubali has broken non-holiday records – The Conclusion (Hindi) was the biggest non-holiday opener before Pathan. The 2017 period film is directed by SS Rajamouli.
On Wednesday, trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared Pathan’s estimated first-day collections across national chains on Twitter. Earlier, Adarsh told PTI that Pathan will revive Bollywood and usher in a brilliant 2023 for the film industry. He had said before the release of Pathan, “The film is going to make a historic debut at the box office with its opening day collections. ₹45-50 crores. The box office recovery will start with Pathan, especially considering its advance bookings, which are very low. It’s a great start to 2023 even though it’s a work day.
On Thursday, industry tracker Ramesh Bala tweeted about the film’s worldwide box office collection on the first day. He said, “Pathan takes a lot. ₹100 crore plus gross opening at the worldwide box office. #1 debut in UAE & Singapore.” In another tweet, he said, “As of Wednesday afternoon Pathan has crossed $1 million in the US.”
Even before the release of the film, Pathan broke records with his incredible advance bookings. Advance bookings for Pathan opened on January 20. Due to increased demand, theater owners in many parts of India decided to screen the film early in the morning. Amid the Pathan frenzy, there were also reports that the morning shows of the film have been canceled as protests erupted outside theaters in Indore on Wednesday.
