Patna Pirates rode the individual brilliance of Devank (25 points) as they came from behind to beat Tamil Thalaivas 42-40 in a thrilling PKL clash on Friday.
In the second match of the day, Puneri Paltan returned to winning ways with a clinical performance against Bengaluru Bulls.
Puneri Paltan, captained by Aslam Inamdar, won the match 36-22.
Tamil Thalaivas were out of the blocks at a good pace with Narender Kandola picking up heaps of points early on.
Narendra Kandola, Sachin and Nitesh Kumar led the charge while Devank struggled for the Patna Pirates.
Midway through the first attack, Tamil Thalaivas had a solid lead of 9 points.
In the last minutes of the first half, Devank made a Super Raid on the Tamil Thalaivas and completed his Super 10.
Similarly, Kandola registered his Super 10 before the end of the first half as Tamil Thalaivas went into the break with a 23-18 lead.
After the break, Devank continued to chip away at the lead and made another Super Raid that reduced the deficit to 2 points.
Devank gave his team the lead five minutes before the end. By this point, the dangerous Devank had scored 25 points and was out to get the job done for his side.
In the end, it was Devank who single-handedly turned the contest on its head and gave Patna Pirates a morale-boosting victory.
