Natu Natu song composed by MM Kirwani SS RajamouliRRR’s epic poem has entered the Oscar race in the Best Original Song category, it was announced on Tuesday. Reacting to the Oscar nomination, Kirwani said the song is like her newborn son, who has grown up and is now going places to get a good name for him. Naatu Naatu has become an international phenomenon. In all recent screenings of RRR In the West, the song got audiences up and dancing. Over the months, several videos have surfaced on social media of Western audiences dancing to the song in theaters.
Speaking about the Oscar nomination for Nato Nato to Deadline, Kirwani said, “It feels great. My feelings about the Oscars are great, because it embodies the dreams of artists from all over the world. No kidding. It takes a lot of hard work and credibility. That’s why an Oscar is an Oscar. That’s why we respect and value it so much. And I’m very honored to be nominated for the first time from (South) Asia in this music category. Proud. I’m excited.”
Kirwani described the song as his son when he composed it and saw it choreographed on screen for the first time. “Yesterday, he was an infant in my cradle. And now my son is going places and getting a good name for me. I’m like a proud father. I’m so grateful for that mindset. And To all the people who made this big wave possible,” he said.
Released in theaters last March, RRR is a fictional story set in the pre-independent era of the 1920s and is based on the lives of two real-life heroes and noted revolutionaries – Alvari Sitarama Raju and Kumaram Bheem. While Ram Charan Played the role of Rama, Tarak appeared as Bheem.
The film grossed. ₹1000 crore during its theatrical run. Over the past few months, the West has celebrated the film in a big way since it dropped on Netflix and was re-released in select cities as part of Beyond Fest.
