Schools, colleges to remain closed tomorrow in Puducherry amid heavy rain forecast – News18

Collector A Kulothungan said in a release that control rooms and relief camps have been opened in Puducherry and Karaikal regions.

The Puducherry government on Tuesday said all schools and colleges in Puducherry and Karaikal regions will remain closed on Wednesday with the weather department forecasting heavy rains.

Home Minister A Namasivayam said all private institutions and government-aided schools will also be closed tomorrow.

Schools and colleges in the two regions were closed on Tuesday due to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor K Kailashnathan reviewed the steps taken by the government machinery in the context of ongoing rain in the Union Territory.

He was briefed by officials of the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management about the measures taken to ensure that relief and rehabilitation work is directed to the Puducherry and Karaikal regions.

Collector A Kulothungan said in a release that control rooms and relief camps have been opened in Puducherry and Karaikal regions.

He said the lieutenant governor has been informed about the readiness of 62 teams of National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) personnel who arrived here on Monday from Arokonam. The government has taken all measures to meet every urgent need.
