Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant told air force crews on Wednesday that after the strike on Iran, the world would know Israel’s might and its enemies would learn a lesson, according to a video and X post released by his office.
Israel has planned a response to the barrage of ballistic missiles committed by Iran on October 1Tehran’s second direct attack on Israel in six months.
“Once we strike in Iran, they will know in Israel and elsewhere what your preparations involve,” Gallant told crews in the video, which his office said was filmed at Hatzerim Air Force Base.
On X, Mr. Gallant added: “In my conversation with them, I emphasized – once we attack Iran, everyone will understand your power, the process of preparation and training – any enemy who tries to harm the state of Israel will pay a high price. “
The Middle East was on edge in anticipation of Israeli retaliation for Iran’s attack, which saw around 200 ballistic missiles fired at Israel.
In the past few weeks, Israel has stepped up its offensive against Palestinian militants Hamas in Gaza and Iran-backed ally Hezbollah in Lebanon. The war was sparked a year ago by Hamas’ attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023.
Washington is seeking to prevent further escalation of the conflict. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said on Wednesday that Israel’s retaliation should not lead to further escalation.
