Filmmaker Tahira Kashyap Khurrana will spend her 40th birthday (January 21) with her family and close friends in the wilderness of Gir National Park in Gujarat, and says it’s a much-needed break before her second feature project. was

“I really didn’t think my birthday plans would be as elaborate as they turned out to be. My whole family came down with my friends from college. Last year, we went to Ranthambore National Park and enjoyed a safari. The plan is the same every year,” says Khurrana, who has two children with actor Ayushmann Khurrana.

This is going to be a continuous celebration for him. After escaping from her family, she heads to Dubai for an all-girls trip.

“We’re coming back on the 23rd, and then on the 26th, I’m going to Dubai with 15 of my girlfriends. Sounds like a big milestone birthday,” she laughs.

In fact, she admits that she is big on celebrating her birthday, but with the people who matter.

“My parents were really big for my birthday and used to invite all their friends and the whole class for a party. After the wedding, all the expectations were suddenly dashed because nothing was happening. That’s when reality hits you. That life can’t be one big birthday party every year. With time and years, you choose friends and who you want to celebrate with,” Khurana added. “It’s not a random party, and It doesn’t have to be extravagant. Like it’s a little fall trip we’re taking and then going out with our girls… it’s big 40 so doing everything… my heart is grateful. That I am surrounded by people who truly love me”.

When it comes to the year, it looks to be an important one with his feature directorial debut, Sharmaji’s daughter, is about to release, and she is also deciding on her second feature project. In the past, she has directed short films. Toffee And Pin.

Opening up about starting a new chapter in her journey as a director, she says, “My first feature film will release this year. The second project is with Ganeet Monga (producer)… Ganeet was the first person I showed up to Toffee. At that time, I didn’t know maths at all… Later, I made up Pin with him, and know each other on a deeper level. We feel strongly about many issues. So, I took a script to him and he’s on board. I am very excited to start the film soon. I’m back in action with my next one as soon as I get back from the trip.”
