The much-anticipated launch of the Apple iPhone 16 has seen excited customers queuing up at select stores in the country since the day before it went on sale. The craze for the latest iPhone model has intensified so much that customers are now ready to buy their dream phone on the black market.
It has been reported that several dealers in many cities are now charging Rs 10,000 more than the MRP for a particular iPhone 16 model. Customers are also willing to pay this extra amount without hesitation just to grab their favorite iPhone. This black marketing of iPhone is widely spread in cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Jaipur.
According to a report by Hindustan, dealers involved in this black marketing said that there is excitement among customers about the iPhone 16 Pro Max model. A retailer from Jaipur said they were selling iPhone 16 Pro Max for Rs 10,000 extra and people were buying it without any hesitation.
When the store owner was asked which model color sold the most, he said, “Desert Titanium.” He said that this specific light pink color of the iPhone 16 Pro or Pro Max model has become a bestseller. Shopkeepers were also found to be charging Rs 5,000-6,000 extra for other colours.
According to Apple’s official website, the latest iPhone 16 model will start shipping from November. Instead of the long wait, iPhone enthusiasts are willing to buy the phone from these dealers, even if they are charged extra.
A shop owner in Thane even posted on social media an offer to sell an iPhone 16 Pro Max 256GB White Titanium phone for Rs 1.55 lakh, Rs 10,000 more than its actual price.
