Donald Trump mocked the widow of Cory Comperatore, the man who took the bullet aimed at the former president at the Butler rally. In leaked audio from a private dinner, Donald Trump was heard reflecting on the assassination attempt and then joked how Cory’s wife, despite receiving a huge payout in compensation, would rather her husband stay alive. Trump cheekily said he knew at least four couples in the room who would be thrilled to get the money — with dead spouses.
“So they’re going to get millions of dollars, but the woman, the wife, this beautiful woman, I handed her the check — we handed her the check — and she said, ‘That’s so nice and I appreciate it, but I prefer my husband. I know some of the women in this room wouldn’t say the same,” Donald Trump said.
“I know at least four couples. There are four pairs, Governor [Abbott]which I know and you are not one of them. At least four couples here would actually be excited,” Donald Trump said, as reported by The Guardian.
It was the dinner, held in Aspen, Colorado, where attendees had to donate from $25,000 to $5,000,000 per couple.
Trump talked about many other things, and one of them was a “false example” of 22 people who he claimed came to the US after being released from prison in the Democratic Republic of Congo. “We said, ‘Where are you from?’ They said, ‘Prison.’ “What did you do?” “None of your fucking business what we did. Do you know why? Because they’re killers.”
“These are the toughest people. These people come from Africa, from the Middle East. They come from all parts of Asia, the bad parts, the rough places, and the only good thing is that they make our criminals look extremely good. They make our Hell’s Angels look like the nicest people on earth,” he said.
