A federal US judge sentenced former President Donald Trump. Trump And her lawyers on Thursday claimed nearly $1 million for a “frivolous” lawsuit alleging Hillary Clinton tried to rig the 2016 election.

District Judge John Middlebrooks said the Republican, who is seeking to return to the White House in 2024, had exhibited a “consistent pattern of abuse of the courts” and had filed the lawsuit “to dishonestly advance a political narrative.” .

The lawsuit, which Middlebrooks dropped last year, claimed that Clinton, who lost to Trump in the 2016 presidential election, and others fabricated a false narrative that her campaign colluded with Russia. .

Trump had sought $70 million in damages.

But Middlebrooks said in a 45-page written court order that the lawsuit “should never have been brought.”

“Its inadequacy as a legal claim was apparent from the outset. No reasonable attorney would have filed it. None of the amended complaint stated a cognizable legal claim, for political expediency,” the judge wrote.

Trump’s lawyer Alina Haba has also been banned in this order.

The pair are jointly and severally liable for the total amount of sanctions imposed by Middlebrooks to cover the defendants’ legal fees and costs: $937,989.39.

Middlebrooks wrote that Trump is “a skilled and sophisticated litigator who has repeatedly used the courts to exact revenge on political opponents.

“He is the mastermind behind the strategic abuse of the judicial process, and cannot be seen as blindly litigating on the advice of a lawyer. He was well aware of the ramifications of his actions.”
