Israel step up your preparation for a ground invasion after the impact Hezbollah weapons production facilities in southern Lebanon on Tuesday.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) published footage of the 98th Division preparing for “limited, localized and targeted ground assaults”.
The IDF in a post on X said: “After operating in Gaza, where the soldiers of the 98th Division gained skills and operational experience, they moved north and are now conducting limited, localized, targeted operations that began last night. We will continue to fight to achieve all of the war’s objectives, including defeating Hamas, returning our hostages home, and restoring security to northern Israel.”
Meanwhile, at night air strikes in Beirut’s Dahiye neighborhood targeted Hezbollah sites, including weapons production facilities and military infrastructure, according to the IDF. The military says Hezbollah is deliberately placing its weapons and military facilities under central Beirut, integrating them into densely populated areas. The IDF reaffirmed its commitment to restoring security for Israel and its citizens.
For the past few weeks, soldiers from the 98th Division, which includes elements of the paratroopers, commandos and the 7th Brigade, have been preparing for the operations in southern Lebanon that began on Monday evening. “After many months of action in the Gaza Strip, where the soldiers of the division gained skills and operational experience, they moved north and are now operating in the northern arena after making the necessary adjustments for the fighting in Lebanon,” the IS said.
Earlier today, the IDF in its X post said: “The IDF is operating according to a methodical plan set by the General Staff and the Northern Command, for which IDF soldiers have been trained and prepared for the past several months. The Israeli Air Force and IDF artillery are supporting ground forces with precision strikes on military targets in the area. These operations, approved by the political echelon, are part of Operation Northern Arrows, which will continue in line with situational assessments, alongside the fighting in Gaza and other arenas.”
Israeli military forces crossed the border into southern Lebanon on Monday as part of these operations, which aim to push Hezbollah forces further from the Israeli border and neutralize their infrastructure, including weapons stockpiles. According to US officials, the operation is expected to be short in duration and last days, not weeks.
Israel has informed the US that the incursion into southern Lebanon is focused on moving Hezbollah forces away from the border and targeting key military infrastructure. The offensive is expected to be limited in scope and time, officials said, likely lasting only a few days.
