Watch: Internet Reacts as Pakistan U19 Celebrate Asia Cup Triumph With Grand Welcome
Pakistan U19 Asia Cup Celebration: The internet was abuzz after Pakistan’s Under-19 cricket team returned home following their dominant victory over India in the U19 Men’s Asia Cup final in Dubai. Pakistan defeated India by a massive 191 runs, securing their second U19 Asia Cup title in style.
The celebrations that followed at Islamabad airport and across the city quickly went viral, drawing widespread attention on social media.
Sameer Minhas Powers Pakistan to Commanding Win
Batting first in the final, Pakistan posted an imposing 347 for 8 in 50 overs, thanks to a sensational innings by Sameer Minhas, who smashed 172 runs off 113 balls.
India’s chase never gained momentum, as they were bowled out for 156 runs. Several Indian batters failed to fire on the big stage, allowing Pakistan to cruise to a comprehensive victory.
Pakistan’s Pace Attack Dismantles India
Pakistan’s fast bowlers played a crucial role in sealing the win. The pace trio of Ali Reza, Mohammad Sayyam, and Abdul Subhan used disciplined hard-length bowling to rattle India’s top order.
- Ali Reza: 4/42
- Mohammad Sayyam: 2/38
- Abdul Subhan: 2/29
India were dismissed in just 26.2 overs, ending their hopes of clinching a ninth U19 Asia Cup title.
Islamabad Erupts in Celebration
After landing at Islamabad airport, the young Pakistani team received a hero’s welcome. Fans, media personnel, and supporters gathered in large numbers, celebrating the historic triumph.
Videos circulating online showed players being greeted with cheers, traditional music, and a victory parade through the streets of Islamabad. The sounds of drums and shehnai filled the air as the city lit up in celebration of the team’s success.
Captains React After the Final
India U19 captain Ayush Mhatre admitted that inconsistencies in bowling proved costly on the final day.
“We were clear about bowling first, but there were some lapses in line and length. Overall, the tournament was good for us and some players really stood up,” he said.
Pakistan captain Farhan Yousaf expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance, especially after losing to India earlier in the tournament.
“We are very happy with the collective effort. After losing the first match against India, our management spoke to us, and we were able to deliver in the final,” Yousaf said.
Minhas Bags Top Honours
Sameer Minhas was named Player of the Match for his match-winning century and also claimed the Player of the Series award for his outstanding performances throughout the tournament.
